Exactly. Which is why I mention the midichlorians — I didn’t need to know why people had The Force. I feel as though some Lost fans/bashers are like four your old kids asking “why? why? why?” to everything, and why some of those questions are important to answer (“Daddy, why shouldn’t I put my hand under the lawnmower?”), some aren’t (“why do dogs have four legs?”). In that spirit, I think the answer to many of these questions is simply, “because Damon and Carleton say so”

One of the interesting questions that Lost raises is “what is an answer?” In the many lists of unanswered questions out there, I’ve been struck by how some questions are posed that don’t seem to need any further answering, like “Why did Locke get healed by the island?” For me, “because it’s a magical place” is enough, but for many fans, that doesn’t cut it. So I think we’ll see a lot of debate not only on which questions need answers but also which answers are sufficient.
